More pics from Germany
Sorry - it may take a few minutes to load.

After two weeks on the road with the kids in tow it’s good to be back.
Touring through Germany in a Mercedes is a great way to see the country, especially if you can make stops along the way to visit family and friends. Once we figured out the German GPS, the driving was made easy. Although you never really get used to someone passing you when your already driving 150 km/hr.
Lost luggage - What would a trip be without a lost luggage issue? A larger sports bag was packed with the kids car seats and winter stuff did not make it to Germany. Only after several calls and changed plans did the piece arrive five days later at our second stop.
Anyway, on to the stops and the pics.
It took a day to recover from the flight to Berlin. After some rest in the hotel and some more inquiries about lost luggage we drove to Niedersteinbach (Penig) Germany to see the Triplets. Pronounced Tri-pi-lets by Graeme. Thank god for portable DVD players that were brought along just in case.
Sockings on the 24th, Santa Claus and swimming on the 25th, Patricia’s Birthday, Leipzig zoo and beer can chicken on the 26th, greyling fishing and super mall on the 27th, all made for a terrific start in this part of the country.
Next stop was Remlingen Germany near Wurzburg. This was the farm stop wear the kids could unwind after the Triplets and get in a tractor ride after visiting the cows.
Next stop - Rudesheim on the Rhein. Castles, more chocolate for the boys and many scenic views.
Next, it was more Triplet action in the Schnarres home town of Datteln. Fireworks and a great party in the basement bar made this a special stop.
Completing the circle in Berlin again we took in the sights of the wall, check point charlie, and the TV tower before flying out again on Jan 5th.
For our first real family trip it was a real adventure with many memorable times. Thanks to everyone in Germany for opening up their homes to us. I hope we can return the favor soon.
Happy 2009!!
